ABOUT THIS TOOL

Readable findings. Inspectable changes.

Subtitle Workbench is an independent browser-based utility for people working with SubRip subtitle files. It helps explain a file’s structure and timing before a deliberate export. It is not affiliated with a streaming platform or a subtitle standards organization.

What the checker actually does

Content and quality

The tool and guides were created with AI assistance. The examples are original, the arithmetic is reproducible, and the core operations are checked with automated tests. Editorial rules are explained rather than attributed to an invented expert. Source references appear on individual guides.

What remains a viewing decision

This page cannot listen to your audio, judge a translation, or inspect subtitle placement. A clean report is not proof of accessibility or delivery compliance. Keep your original file and review exported captions in your intended player.

Current format support

The first version reads UTF-8 SRT files up to 1 MB and 10,000 blocks. Reports show at most 200 finding details at once, while the totals cover the full accepted file. WebVTT, ASS, SSA, subtitle images, and automatic speech recognition are outside its current scope. An unsupported file is rejected rather than converted implicitly.
